I'm Chris Justin, a licensed professional engineer running as an independent for the Louisiana Public Service Commission, District 1. I'm not a politician, I'm an engineer, a small business owner, and a dad who's tired of watching Louisiana families get stuck with bad deals from the commission that's supposed to protect them. I spent 15 years in engineering and regulatory policy, including advising the PSC itself on cutting costs for ratepayers. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Penn State and I'm a Licensed Professional Engineer in Louisiana. I'm running with no party affiliation and no utility money. Our grid is falling apart, and ratepayers keep footing the bill for waste hidden in filings nobody reads. I read them, and found a charge costing Louisiana families $12.8 million a year for nothing. My wife Katie and I are raising our three kids in Lakeview. I know firsthand how rising electricity costs and grid failures hit families where it hurts.
Louisiana's grid fails three times as often as Florida's, yet our bills are up 50% since 2020. As PSC Commissioner, I'll push utilities to invest in reliability and storm-hardening instead of padding profits, and hold them accountable for outages instead of passing the cost to ratepayers.
The LPSC fast-tracked major new data centers and shifted most of the grid buildout cost onto everyday ratepayers, data centers pay just 25% while you pay 75%. I'll fight to make data centers cover their fair share instead of hiding it in your electric bill.
More than 40% of campaign contributions to Louisiana's Public Service Commissioners come from the utility and fossil-fuel companies they regulate, the second-highest share of any state that elects its commissioners. Your electric bill is somebody's campaign donation. I've taken zero utility money, and I never will.
